Our trip to New York City was simply an amazing experience. My wife and I had a summer break from our degree programs and we saved up enough PTO and money to take this trip to NYC. This trip was important to us because we work so hard during the semester, working full-time and taking classes after work. We were able to celebrate especially a time when the FIFA World Cup was near by.

When we first arrived we landed a LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and used local subway to get into Time Square. The subway map can be a little difficult to understand at first but it gets easier the more we used it. Right away, there was a World Cup rally happening in Time Square coming out of the subway station for Mexico. My wife and I were shocked at how much people there were. I felt like that saying “New Yorkers feel like they are the center of the universe,” well Time Square was definitely the place to be.

One thing that I was personally excited to see was the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). We are the greatest financial institution in the world and to be that close to where it all happens was amazing. Even though I study accounting, I admire the grind and culture of stock brokers. I can only dream to work with fortune 500 companies.

We also visited the famous Dumbo street corner. This street is used in movies and you can see the Empire State Building smack dab in the middle between the bridge pillars. It was a sight to see, there was so many people because of the famous location, Jay-z was hosting a pop-up event, and a FIFA World Cup watch party was setting up for the night near by.

Lastly, New York City is extremely vibrant and the city moves with a beat. While we were there, my wife and I asked ourselves if we should move there? Even though sounds like a great idea, New York City is very expensive. We are happy that we were able to visit but somethings are just better to remember as an experience, we can’t wait to see where we go next!
